Ethically produced garments made from more sustainable fabrics that are timeless and versatile

Recognising the inherent challenges of achieving 100% sustainability in new garments, we strive to adhere to "more sustainable practices." Actively contributing to positive social and environmental outcomes, we focus on ethical production, crafting sustainable garments, and engaging in initiatives like plastic collection, tree planting, and adopting eco-friendly packaging and transportation. ⁣

Established in 2019, we've significantly advanced our sustainability practices, embracing continuous improvement. While perfection eludes us, our dedication lies in acknowledging progress, celebrating achievements, and persistently seeking opportunities for enhancement.

ETHICALLY MADE

At Ninepine, we take pride in the ethical production of our garments. Our primary supplier is a Danish-owned factory in Vietnam that holds prestigious certifications, including SA8000®, WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production), BetterWork, and GRS (Global Recycling Standard).

SA8000®⁣
Think of SA8000® as Fairtrade for factories. This world-leading social certification program ensures fair pay, reasonable working hours, no child or forced labor, safe environments, collective bargaining, no discrimination, and humane disciplinary practices. Our suppliers undergo rigorous biannual audits to maintain this esteemed accreditation.⁣

WRAP⁣
Our commitment to fair practices continues with WRAP certification which promote safe, lawful, humane, and ethical manufacturing around the world through a comprehensive audit and certification program. This guarantees that our garments adhere to 12 principles, including fair compensation, prohibition of forced labor, and a focus on health and safety.⁣

BetterWork⁣
In collaboration with the United Nations’ International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), BetterWork audits our facilities to ensure compliance with ILO’s core labor standards and national legislation, covering compensation, contracts, and working conditions.⁣

Beyond Vietnam, we collaborate with other ethical suppliers with FairWair, BSCI, Sedex, GOTS, Amorfi, and GRS certifications in Turkey, Bangladesh and China, reflecting our founder's heritage. ⁣

Our world-class facilities also manufacture for renowned European and American high-street and technical outdoor brands. Choosing Ninepine means choosing garments that are not just quality but also ethically crafted, leaving a positive impact on both people and the planet.

"MORE SUSTAINABLE" GARMENTS

⁣Navigating the challenge of sustainable production, Ninepine prioritizes crafting "more sustainable" items that excel in quality, durability, and versatility, all while embracing better materials and a timeless design ethos inspired by the Bismar model of textile sustainability (2019).⁣

Durable Quality:⁣
Our commitment to quality is evident in our garments that seamlessly fit into our customers' everyday lives. With a low defect rate of <0.8%, we ensure excellence. Rigorous lab tests precede the selection and cutting of fabrics, ensuring they meet Ninepine's high standards for pilling resistance, abrasion resistance, color fastness, and shrinkage. ISO 9001:2015 certification of our facilities underscores the strength of our quality management systems. Third-party auditors like SGS conduct Level G-II inspections before each order ships.⁣

Better Materials and Trims:⁣
Consciously opting for "more sustainable" materials aligns with our commitment to quality lab requirements. Over 90% of our fabrics use GRS-certified recycled yarn from post-consumer waste like fishing nets and bottles. Our recycled PET, classified as a class B yarn by Made-By, boasts benefits such as lower energy use and reduced CO2 emissions by approximately 20%. While not perfect, requiring careful washing with products like the GuppyBag (to reduce microplastic shedding), it performs exceptionally for our comfort and utility focused garments.⁣

For cotton items, we prioritize organic GOTS-certified cotton, offering sustainability through reduced water usage, pesticide avoidance, lower energy consumption, and up to 46% lower CO2 emissions. We also consciously choose high-quality trims, such as YKK Japanese zipper mechanisms, to ensure the longevity of our garments.⁣

Timeless and Versatile Garments:⁣
Ninepine's design ethos revolves around timelessness and versatility, echoing the Bismar model of textile sustainability (2019). Steering clear of seasonal trends, we present a curated catalog of timeless capsule pieces designed for repeated wear across various occasions. A single Ninepine garment can effortlessly replace multiple alternatives, embracing sustainability through longevity and adaptability.

10 BOTTLES COLLECTED PER ORDER TO PROTECT OUR OCEANS

At Ninepine, our partnership with CleanHub reflects our dedication to environmental impact. Each order contributes to collecting about 10 plastic bottles, and by 2024, we anticipate reaching 20,000 bottles, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. ⁣

This collaboration aligns seamlessly with our broader sustainability goals, emphasizing plastic waste reduction and supporting a circular economy. It's not just about quality apparel; it's an active effort to address environmental challenges. CleanHub, a global force, focuses on collecting and recycling plastic waste in regions with insufficient waste management. Intercepting plastic before it reaches oceans or landfills, CleanHub prevents environmental degradation, protects marine life, and reduces the carbon footprint of plastic production. The significance lies in combating plastic pollution, a major threat to ecosystems. Initiatives like CleanHub actively engage us in solutions for a healthier planet, inviting our community to join the cause. ⁣⁣

TREE PLANTING

Through partnerships with NGOs like Eden Projects and Switch2Zero, we've planted over 280,000 trees as of 2024. These initiatives contribute to vital reforestation, restoring ecosystems, and sequestering carbon.

Eden Projects, in particular, is known for its transparent and community-focused tree planting model. Their projects empower local communities, alleviating poverty while promoting environmental stewardship.

Our tree planting efforts align with Ninepine's dedication to holistic sustainability. The benefits extend beyond carbon offsetting, fostering biodiversity, supporting local livelihoods, and combating deforestation. We believe in fostering positive change, leaving a lasting legacy that goes beyond the garments we create.

BETTER PACKAGING & TRANSPORTATION

Embracing a "more sustainable" approach, we prioritize packaging made from recycled or biodegradable materials. Our commitment to minimizing environmental impact is reflected in every aspect of our operations, including how we deliver our products to you.

Opting for recycled packaging materials aligns with our goal to reduce the demand for new resources, contributing to a circular economy. Additionally, our use of biodegradable materials ensures that our packaging can break down, minimizing its impact on the environment.

We are also proud that our main transportation partners primarily use renewable diesel or electricity. These deliveries are made using electricity, human muscle power and HVO100 (renewable diesel).
